Scuba T’s was founded by Colin ‘Toddy’ Irvine who is a fully qualified, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. Scuba T is short for Scuba Toddys “Toddy” being my middle name and a wee nickname.

Colin has been diving for roughly 5 years now from the tropical seas of the Spanish Isles to the freezing cold lochs of Scotland, he has experienced it all. His journey began when Colin was on holiday in Gran Canaria and saw three scuba divers walking into the sea with their suits on and he thought to himself “what an amazing job that would be working in the sunshine every day.” So being the incentive person that he is, on returning home to his office job, he began researching the process of becoming a scuba instructor.

Colin proceeded straight away by passing his Open and Advanced Open Water Courses this followed by my Drysuit course. I kept diving twice a week in Scotland and in Spain until he had enough experience and dives to sit his Divemaster course.

Colin wanted to be a good Divemaster with good experience so he worked in a Spanish dive centre for eight weeks while doing his course and gaining valuable experience. On returning home Colin was approached by a Scottish dive school where he worked for around a year or more before for filling his dream to live in Spain. Colin passed his Instructor exam and set up home in Spain where he had a fantastic time working in a busy dive centre for around nine months. Due to a change in his circumstances Colin returned to Scotland to establish Scuba Ts Diving in the Stirlingshire area.

Over the past three years Colin has brought the Excellent customer services & safety skills he learned from his time in Spain to Scotland and hopefully his customers get the benefit from this.

Colin has a great team by his side who are all active divers and love nothing more than to pass on skills to Scuba T students.

During my working life I have spent time in industry and education.
After high school I worked and qualified as a Mechanical Services Engineer before moving on to study a full time BSc Honours degree in Physics. On graduating I them completed the PGDE in Secondary Education - Physics and Science. I spent eleven years in front-line education, delivering the many Physics and Science courses available in Scottish schools. I was promoted to Principal Teacher of Science and then to Faculty Leader of Science in my time at Wallace High in Stirling. During this time I led the faculty to the highest levels of attainment on record and most notably a 100% pass rate in Higher Physics in 2018. In March 2019 I moved on to Project Manage the Young STEM Leader Programme. This is a government funded initiative where young people are mobilised to act as positive role models in STEM. The project is led by the Scottish Schools Education Research Centre in partnership with Scotlands Science Centres, STEM Ambassador Hubs several youth and community groups.
In 2013 I launched Saturday School Ltd (SSL), offering group tuition, revision and SQA qualifications in Glasgow for young people taking National 5 or Higher SQA courses. Along with Victoria Rose (Co Director), we have grown SSL to be the premier tutoring school in Scotland. Due to public demand we have also worked through the process of becoming a SQA Approved Centre and this status was achieved in 2017.
